Every Summer VAC partners with the KOMU-TV NBC Fan Club to provide free box fans to individuals and families in need—helping our neighbors stay safe and cool during Missouri’s extreme summer heat. For many in our community, especially seniors, young children, and those with underlying health conditions, high temperatures can be more than just uncomfortable—they can be life-threatening. Staying cool is essential to overall health and well-being, and something as simple as a fan can make a meaningful, even life-saving, difference.
This year, VAC plans to distribute approximately 400 fans, and each unit costs $25—bringing our need to $10,000. That may sound big, but it’s completely achievable when we work together. Just 100 people donating $100 would fully fund this program. Or, consider giving what you can:
$25 = 1 fan
$50 = 2 fans
$75 = 3 fans
$100 = 4 fans
Fans are provided solely through community donations—either through financial gifts or by donating new or gently used fans. If you'd like to contribute a physical fan, you can bring it to VAC’s office Mon-Fri 9am-4pm. Together, we can keep Columbia cool, safe, and healthy this summer.
